First, in any severe emergency you should call 911.

If you find that your child has knocked a tooth out then you should try to place the tooth in a mild salt solution, milk, or plain water and immediately call our office. Do not scrub the tooth or handle it any more than is necessary to place it into a container.

Once you are in the office, we will determine whether or not the tooth can be re-implanted or whether other treatment options must be considered.  We will look for signs of tooth and/or bone fracture, gum problems, and functional issues. 

Call immediately after the accident – time is the most important factor when determining if a tooth can be saved.
